Hello!
My name is Amanda, I grew up on the TN/KY state line. Spending most of my childhood at my Grandparents farm in KY, but I lived and went to school in TN. I loved everything farm from the moment I was old enough to work with Grandpa. I am probably the only kid that being grounded meant I couldn't do chores.
My Grandpa was always outside working on something and I was right beside him. My love and joy in working outside, gardening, and animals definitely came from him. Once you start raising your own food and you start seeing the differences in commercial vs. home grown vegetables, eggs, and meat; That will start to spiral into seeing the difference in everything. All the unnecessary preservatives, chemicals, and GMO that cause more harm than good.
I work a full time job with goals to make this business full time. I am truly passionate about this business and everything it stands for. I trust God to equip me with all that I need, and He has every day. My favorite bible verses are Psalms 27:1-14 . The last couple verses read "I am certain that I will see the Lord's goodness in the land of the living. Wait for the Lord; be strong and courageous. Wait for the Lord."
My Story
How did I get where I am? And why the name Simply Set Apart soap & stock?
I always knew I wanted to start a small business. Although I had never put much thought into what. I thought of this as something I wouldn't start until I had kids, so I could homeschool them and still be financially supportive of my family.
I do not have a family of my own yet, so I owe all the credit for starting this business now to God, not my timing, but His. If it wasn't for a unexpected turn that completely realigned, or I should say established, my relationship with Him I don't know what I would be doing right now. I am so glad I am here talking to you now about Simply Set Apart. Anyone that knows anything about starting a business knows you come up with your direction, then you come up with a name to support that. Well, this time the name came first.
I was housesitting and reading my bible when God placed the idea on my heart. At the time I was about to start milking my goats again, the only thing I was thinking of was goat milk soap and goat milk products. So, I got a notepad and prayed for the name I needed. I started playing with words, pretty quick the name "Simply Set Apart soap & stock" came up. I wanted to be sure, so I kept messing with it. I had a couple pages full of ideas after a few hours, but the right one was clear, although I didn't fully understand. I had no idea the actual direction I was going, but God knew even then. That was February 2024, in June I was still planning on making only goat milk products. I tried to change the name, I even bought stickers and stamps for the new name. Problem was I could not shake the feeling that it was wrong, so I changed it back. I am so glad He knew what I didn't.
Simply Set Apart explains my business perfectly. The longer time went on, the more it made sense. The idea of making home essentials did not come along until about September. After that I finally knew what direction I was going. "Set our homes apart from the synthetic world we live in, by simply using God given ingredients to bring our homes back to life." I have been in so many conversations with people that wish they had the time to make everything homemade, so they could know what they were exposing their family too. Unfortunately, for most of us that is not a reality. I want to help with that!
The sub title "soap & stock" also worked out great. Originally I thought it was only referring to the goat milk "soap" and other items I would have in "stock." But the more I have learned, the more I have realized the benefit of diversity. So now I am implementing my existing goats into my business plan, offering grass fed "stock". I had planned on growing my herd a couple years ago then other things happened. Now I have brought that idea back to the table, and will be offering my stock for your table as well. The farm tab at the top of the page brings you to the Premium Grass Fed Stock section. This has a lot of growth ahead of it, but it is moving forward 2025. I plan on it being fully in motion by 2027 with available farm fresh chevon (goat meat). Now "stock" means the things I have on the selves and in the fields.
I welcome you on this journey with me, as we eliminate the harmful ingredients from our homes and families. I encourage you to shop small not only from me, but from all of us small business owners with like minded goals. Each of us have something different to offer. It will take all of us to turn this world around. It starts with one family at a time making the switch from silent commercial killers, to products homemade or grown with love. Thank you so much for your support!
